In the wake of Tuesday, 11 th December, 2007, at about 9:00am, another outbreak of Religious crises is reported in the Yelwa area of Bauchi state. Yelwa is a suburb, abaut five ( 5 ) to seven ( 7 ) minutes drive from the main town of Bauchi .
The Crises started from a secondary school known as Baba Tapko Day Secondary School located in the yelwa area
According to sources, the trouble was said to have started when an un completed mosque building located within the school premises was demolished by unknown persons. It was said that the Muslim students accused the Christian students as being responsible for the ungodly acts of the demolition.
The Christian students representatives were said to have claim ignorance of the demolition. The school was at the period in their final exams period before the chrismas and New year Holiday .
Thereafter, the Muslim students started a rebel, claiming the rebuilding of the mosque or they will retaliate. They threaten to interrupt the exams except the Mosque be rebuild.
It was said that the Christian students requested that they be allowed to finish their exams since the exams has already commenced. And the matter be resolved with appropriate investigations
The entire issue degenerated into an attacked by the Muslims students who started to throw of stones at the Christian students
The scenario which started in the school as students affair escalated to the neighboring community with other Muslim faithful trooping into the school to attack Christian students.
These attacked was extended to the entire community which resulted into burning of houses and killings.
Before security agent and officials could rise to stop the menace, Six ( 6 ) lives of Christians including a police officer was lost on that faithful day.
As at the time of receiving this brief, only one church belonging to Ever creasing Faith Elim Ministries was said to have been touched.
